We Came, We Saw, We Were Conquered
Vienna, here we are!
Checking in- K&K Palais Hotel
Images of the Danube comes to mind-poetic,
romantic waltzes were composed,inspired
by the Danube. We were not disappointed with
what Vienna had to offer.
First stop was lunch.
As in Prague, it was early afternoon
we got to the hotel. Indeed, we came to
conquer this part of the world-
instead its culture, history,
beauty and majestic art
conquered us.
St. Stephen Cathedral
It was a good choice to stay as it was
walking distance to their town square
where the majestic and imposing
St. Stephen Cathedral stands.
Vienna is a smoker's paradise.The air was
full of cigarette smoke and the square
and streets were littered with butts. The
square was was lined with open air cafes.
Since Vienna boasts of being a musical city, there were men
dressed in period costume of Mozart handing out flyers of the
evening concert.
There was a display of horses and
carriages for any tourist who wants a
leisurely tour of the city. We've seen
these in New York city, they are also
in Quebec city. None of the group
could resist a ride to tour the city.
Vienna is the capital city of Austria.
It is regarded as the City of Music
because of its musical legacy. Musical
prodigies include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart,
Joseph Haydn, Ludwig Van Beethoven,
Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms,
Gustav Mahler and Arnold Schoenberg.
Off we went and we feasted our eyes on
the beauty of Vienna, admired the
architecture and kept saying, Oh yes,
we are in Europe It was a leisurely tour
as cameras went clicking at the sights
before us.
